GIF (Grafik Değişim Formatı)

GIF, basit animasyonları desteklemesiyle bilinen bir bitmap görüntü formatıdır. Kayıpsız LZW sıkıştırma kullanır ancak kare başına 256 renk paletiyle sınırlıdır. GIF, kısa animasyonlu klipler, tepki görselleri ve basit grafikler için hâlâ popülerdir.

GIF, kare başına en fazla 256 renklik bir paletle LZW sıkıştırma kullanır. Animasyon, kare başına gecikme ve atma ayarlarıyla birden fazla karenin depolanmasıyla sağlanır.

Gecmis

GIF, 1987 yılında CompuServe tarafından tanıtılmış ve web üzerinde kullanılan ilk görüntü formatlarından biri olmuştur. Animasyonlu GIF varyantı (GIF89a) 1989 yılında yayımlanmıştır.
