About Compress Image

Compress JPEG, PNG, and WebP images directly in your browser. Adjust quality settings to find the perfect balance between file size and visual quality. Your images never leave your device.

How It Works

This tool uses the browser's built-in Canvas API to re-encode your images. When you upload an image, it is decoded into pixels on a canvas element, then re-encoded at the quality level you choose. For JPEG and WebP, lower quality means smaller files with some visual loss. PNG compression is lossless — only metadata and encoding optimizations apply.

Step by Step

  1. 1 Upload one or more images (JPEG, PNG, or WebP)
  2. 2 Adjust the quality slider — lower values produce smaller files
  3. 3 Optionally change the output format (WebP often gives the best compression)
  4. 4 Click Compress to process your images
  5. 5 Download the compressed results individually

Tips

  • WebP typically produces 25-35% smaller files than JPEG at the same visual quality.
  • For photos, quality between 70-85% usually gives excellent results.
  • PNG is lossless — if you need transparency, keep PNG format.
  • Batch compress multiple images at once to save time.
  • The original files on your device are never modified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is my image uploaded to a server?
No. All processing happens in your browser using the Canvas API. Your images never leave your device.
What image formats are supported?
JPEG, PNG, and WebP. You can also convert between these formats.
What quality setting should I use?
For most photos, 75-85% quality gives a good balance. For web images, 70% is usually sufficient. For archival or print, use 90-100%.
Is there a file size limit?
The tool supports images up to 50 MB. Since processing is local, larger files just take longer.
Can I compress multiple images at once?
Yes! You can upload up to 10 images and compress them all with the same settings.
